Immigration law partner Ed Wanambwa has acted as moderator and speaker at the European Employment Summit, organised by International Employment Lawyer.

Held on 26 September 2024, the summit brought together senior in-house and private practice lawyers to explore the challenges and opportunities facing multinational employers and their counsel across the region and was attended by 200+ lawyers drawn from leading international and top-tier London firms.

Joined by three fellow panellists, Ed moderated a discussion of the legal frameworks governing the hiring of white-collar and blue-collar migrant talent across the continent. The panel also explored developments such as recent reforms to the EU’s Blue Card programme and the emergence of digital nomad visas, and how employers can mitigate the risk of rising xenophobia impacting foreign talent attraction and retention.

The skills shortage affecting the UK and Continental European countries and how governments of these countries have responded has made the laws on migrant labour even more challenging to navigate. Discussing and understanding how UK and European industries are responding to this, the legal considerations at play and finding solutions for clients is more pressing than ever.”
