Regulation and public law

Public law

Public law

Our public law and regulatory litigation team offers expert, cost effective legal advice tailored to meet the specific requirements of our clients.

We have a long history of working in this field. We draw on this experience, combining our specialist legal knowledge to offer general advice and guidance, resolve disputes and, where legal action is necessary or unavoidable, take appropriate, robust action.

In the context of regulatory litigation we act for a number of high profile regulators including the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Architects Registration Board. We are always aware that individual cases have wider implications and must be considered within a more general context. With this in mind we assess the options and provide focused, pragmatic advice. We have a strong track record of delivering the results that our clients need.

In the context of judicial review applications we have acted in a wide range of cases for both defendants and claimants. We know that dealing with challenges against decisions, whether bringing or defending the challenge, can be complex and that the results can have wide ranging implications. We offer clear prudent advice in order to ensure a timely, positive outcome whether through the courts or by settlement. We have experience of a broad range of public law matters across a number of sectors, including professional regulators, planning and licensing.

Charging information

Charges are usually based on our hourly rates plus administrative charges and disbursements. We will provide you with an initial estimate of your likely legal costs and will update this as your requirements or the circumstances of the work change.

We also offer a range of other funding options, for example discounted hourly rates if you instruct us on a volume of work and/or can offer us a fixed term contract, and collective or conventional conditional fee agreements.

We would be pleased to discuss your requirements free of charge and tailor a costs proposal accordingly.
