Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) claims

A family of four holding hands walking through a woods. Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) claims solicitors

Introduction and overview

If you or your family member have been the victim of a crime of violence you may be able to claim compensation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).

The CICA is a government body set up to compensate victims including children who have been subjected to a crime of violence. The scheme compensates child victims who may not be able to make a claim against the aggressor who caused the injury. In this situation, you should speak to lawyers who are experienced in this area.

How our personal injury solicitors can help you

Key services offered

Our team of expert solicitors can help you make a CICA claim for yourself or a family member, including children, or appeal a decision made by the CICA tribunal.

We have vast experience in handling CICA claims focused on:

  • brain injury
  • psychiatric injury
  • burns and scarring
  • abuse
  • fatal claims

Your ongoing and future needs are paramount so we aim to secure compensation that will cover care, therapies or even equipment and accommodation. This may include commissioning reports from experienced experts in the field who will fully explore your needs and provide financial costs for what they think you need, for now and in the future.

As well as handling the CICA process, we can help with finding your child rehabilitation services and advise you if the Court of Protection needs to be involved.

Why choose Russell-Cooke for Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) claims?

About our personal injury team

We have a proven track record of success in handling these claims and work hard to get the best outcome for you and your family members.

You shouldn’t just take our word for it: we are accredited by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and ranked in the journals of Legal 500 and Chambers.

It’s always best to make a claim as soon as possible, although, in the event a child is affected, you can still claim up to the individual’s 20th birthday provided the crime was reported to the police whilst the victim was still a child.

We are tenacious in getting the best settlements and leave no stone unturned in achieving this—but don’t take our word for it—we are ranked in Legal 500 and Chambers for our expertise. Here are some comments made about us.

Charging information

We’ll hold an initial consultation with you free of charge in which we’ll discuss your questions about the process, its conditions and the likely amount of compensation.

Don’t worry about how you’ll fund the case. If we feel that you have a good chance of receiving compensation or successfully appealing a CICA decision then we will make the claim for you on a no-win no-fee arrangement.

If your claim is unsuccessful you will not have to pay anything. If you are successful then our fees will be deducted from the compensation award as the CICA do not pay the legal costs of the solicitor.
