Insurance disputes notable work
- Currently acting for a listed company in a multimillion pound coverage dispute with a major insurer concerning a number of claims under civil liability and D&O policies, some of which are subject to mediation.
- Acting for a commercial real estate client in a dispute concerning business interruption insurance coverage following the Coronavirus pandemic.
- AIG Europe Limited v Woodman and others [2017] UKSC 18 in which we acted for the Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority as interveners. The case concerned the interpretation of the standard aggregation clause in solicitors' professional indemnity insurance policies.
- Godiva Mortgages v Travelers Insurance Company [2011] EWHC 3687 (Comm) in which we acted for the Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority as interveners. The case involved the aggregation of multiple claims arising from a solicitor's involvement in mortgage fraud.
- R (British Bankers Association ) v FSA and others [2011] EWHC 999 (Admin) in which we acted for the Financial Ombudsman Service in successfully defending a judicial review of the approach of regulators to compensation for mis-sold payment protection insurance.
- Turville Heath Inc v Chartis Insurance UK Ltd [2012] EWHC 3019 in which we acted for the claimant making a claim under an arbitration clause process under an insurance contract following a fire at a listed Grade II property.
- Pursued a direct claim against the insurer of a financial adviser after the adviser went into liquidation.
