Jargon-filled guidance spouted by the oversight regulator of legal services is making lawyers sceptical over the value they derive from its £4.1 million annual budget.
Speaking with The Times, Senior Partner John Gould says that in its first three years, the LSB “had real purpose” implementing the legislation. But since those reforms, the board has been “searching for a role” beyond approving rule changes by the frontline regulators and monitoring their performance. It has become, he says, “desperate to avoid irrelevance”.
