We regularly act on disputes arising post-death in relation to beneficiaries of family trusts and rights to a deceased’s estate.

In one particularly noteworthy case we are currently acting on an extremely complex ongoing family dispute concerning the estate of a wealthy deceased businessman. The estate comprises a variety of different assets (including real estate and company shareholdings in particular) located in a large number of different jurisdictions.

Quite apart from the location of the assets, the nature of the deceased’s activities means that this is a genuine cross-border matter, and particularly complex private international law issues around succession have arisen.

Proceedings have been bought or are contemplated in at least four different jurisdictions.
