Family lawyers at Russell-Cooke will be offering free advice sessions to families during Good Divorce Week 2020 which runs from 30 November to 4 December 2020. To help in promoting the benefits of early legal advice, during Good Divorce Week, lawyers, mediators and financial advisors across the country offer 30-minute free advice sessions to those families who need it.

Good Divorce Week is an annual campaign that aims to promote practical and constructive ways for separating parents to put the needs of their children first. Organised by Resolution, this year the campaign focuses around the benefits of early legal advice, as the organisation prepares to re-launch its public facing Code of Practice.

Resolution is a membership organisation for professionals working with separating families. Now a community of more than 6,500 family justice professionals, over the decades Resolution has maintained a commitment to a constructive way of working with families, enshrined in its Code of Practice.

As Resolution members, Russell-Cooke lawyers from the family law team based in the firm's Bedford Row, Kingston-upon-Thames and Putney offices will be offering free advice sessions.

Partner Kate Hamilton said: "We believe, as do all Resolution members, that the process of separating, sorting out finances and arranging childcare should be done in a way that minimises conflict and keeps the best interests of any children involved at the heart of proceedings.

By seeking early professional advice, couples have the benefit of considering a range of options and making a decision that is most suitable to them. That’s why we are delighted to support Good Divorce Week to promote a constructive approach to this often emotionally charged matter."

Partner Hannah Minty said: "This is an opportunity for couples to fully understand all of their rights and the options open to them and separate in the most harmonious way possible. Far too many families have little-to-no access to professional legal advice when it comes to divorce. The free advice we are offering will give separating couples the confidence and knowledge to make the best decisions for them and their family with minimal conflict."
