Russell-Cooke welcomes consultant to complement construction law offering
Russell-Cooke has welcomed new consultant Robert Stevenson to the firm's construction and engineering group.
Robert rejoins the firm after over 35 years, having trained with Russell-Cooke and left in 1984. He has been in private practice ever since, as a partner for the past 27 years.
Robert joins the firm as a specialist in contentious construction law. He is also a chartered arbitrator and accredited adjudicator and has appeared both as representative and as advocate before the High Court, and Arbitral Tribunals for contractors, employers and construction professionals in the UK and abroad.
A particular focus of Robert's practice is advising construction consultants, and in particular architects. As well as acting as an advocate before the ARB on professional misconduct claims, he is a long-time adviser on the RIBA helpline, gives regular talks for the organisation and is a CPD training provider. Robert's work with architects also includes IP issues and pursuance of claims in IP relating to construction.
Robert joins the Russell-Cooke team to strengthen the current construction practice, which combines the joint expertise of the teams headed up by Peter Kitson for transactional work, Mark Fletcher on dispute resolution and the health and safety expertise of Kizzy Augustin. Robert's expertise will further expand the firm’s contractor and professional client base in particular.
Partner Peter Kitson said: “Robert’s arrival builds on the current strengths of the firm’s construction and engineering group and will complement our existing work in many ways. As well as adding to our client base of construction professionals, Robert also complements the firm’s regulatory practice. We are excited about the opportunities for us to develop and expand our construction and engineering practice.”
Robert Stevenson said: “I’m delighted to return to Russell-Cooke after so many years. I have always retained fond memories of my articles (as we called our training back then) with the firm. I am now looking forward to getting down to work and continuing to work with longstanding clients and develop my practice at Russell-Cooke.”
