Russell-Cooke has welcomed Harriet Butterfield as a consultant to the firm. Harriet will be joining the real estate team to focus on construction law.

Harriet is a barrister of 20 plus years' call who brings a wealth of expertise in the construction and engineering sector, having spent over 15 years advising and representing a variety of clients in these sectors. Her career began at the criminal bar and latterly she has acted as an independent consultant to a variety of law firms.

Harriet advises the full range of contentious and transactional construction-related matters within real estate transactions. Her clients include employer and contractor organisations in the residential, commercial and infrastructure sectors. She is also well-versed in mediation, arbitration and adjudication.

The firm welcomed consultant Robert Stevenson in May 2021 as a specialist in contentious construction law, joining partner Mark Fletcher who heads up the contentious construction team. Harriet will work alongside them to build out the non-contentious side of the firm’s offering and to complement their contentious expertise.

Partner Matthew Garrod said: “Harriet joins us bringing impressive skills and experience across the full range of construction and engineering work. She will work alongside our leading real estate team and with the existing construction law team to further enhance our construction offering. ”

Harriet Butterfield said: “I am excited to be joining Russell-Cooke’s top-ranked real estate team and look forward to getting to know their high quality client-base and my new colleagues working across the firm’s impressively broad practice.”
