Week before Budget saw law firm complete more than £55m worth of deals—Insider Media South East
Partner Peter Jeffery has featured in an article from Insider Media South East which reports on his team’s swift completion of over £55m worth of transactions for businesses in the South and South East in the week ahead of the Budget. The businesses ranged from IT and logistics firms to hospitality and healthcare enterprises. Peter comments on how anticipated tax changes spurred business owners to want to fast-track deals.
Ahead of the Budget there was considerable speculation that a significant rise in tax rates was on the cards, and while the eventual hikes on capital gains weren’t as drastic as some predicted, those business owners who managed to get deals done before Budget day will have been breathing a sigh of relief.
Tax rate changes should never be a reason to enter into a transaction that wasn’t already planned, but for transactions already in progress we moved swiftly to help our clients complete at pace in anticipation of the considerable dent that would have been caused had deals slipped over into November.
