Russell-Cooke proudly served as the principal sponsor of the Silicon Cup Regatta, the UK’s largest IT networking event on water, held on 17-18 September from the Solent, Portsmouth. In addition to sponsoring the event, the firm participated in the two-day regatta, joining companies from across the tech sector to network and raise funds for important causes.

Now in its second year of Russell-Cooke sponsorship, the regatta has become a highlight of the charity sailing calendar. Since its inception in 2000, the event has attracted over 7,000 competitors and raised more than £1 million for charities across the UK.

The winners and runners up

The 2024 regatta saw some fierce competition. Members of Russell-Cooke’s corporate and commercial team, led by partner Peter Jeffery, participated in the race and secured second place in the IRC 1 Class, however, it was software developer Sage that took home the top prize as the overall regatta champion.

Fundraising for a worthy cause

In addition to the racing, the event raised vital funds for three charities including: The Genie’s Wish, The Andrew Simpson Foundation, and Greig City Academy. Highlights included a gala dinner and charity auction, which helped to boost the fundraising total.

We are thrilled to have sponsored and participated in such a successful event for the second year running. The Russell-Cooke Silicon Cup Regatta is more than just a sailing competition—it’s a unique opportunity for professionals to network, collaborate, and, most importantly, contribute to charitable causes that make a real difference. We are incredibly proud of the event’s success, especially our team’s finish in the IRC 1 Class and look forward to continuing our support in the years to come.
