Russell-Cooke has today announced the promotion of six senior associates to partner, with effect from 1 July 2024.

The new partners come from across the firm’s real estate, residential property, corporate and commercial, and personal injury and medical negligence teams. 

The newly-promoted partners will be:

Chris Barkley, Partner in the Russell-Cooke Solicitors, real estate, planning and construction team.

Chris Barkley: real estate

Chris is a real estate lawyer with a broad range of experience in development, investment, property finance and landlord & tenant matters. His knowledge base spans a number of sectors including industrial, office, retail, private wealth and hospitality. Chris acts for developers, lenders, private clients and institutional investors, with his past work including advising a client on the acquisition of a 25-unit industrial estate with a value of £20 million.

Katie Cooper a senior associate, Russell-Cooke, real estate, planning and construction team.

Katie Cooper: real estate

Katie advises developers, family offices, investors and a number of global retailers. She has acted on a number of high profile and complex transactions with deals in recent months exceeding £100 million. She has developed strong cross-sector expertise and has a reputation as a trusted strategic advisor across the real estate market. 

Edward Fairweather, Senior associate in the Russell-Cooke Solicitors, real estate, planning and construction team.

Edward Fairweather: real estate

Edward advises on a broad range of commercial property transactions including landlord and tenant matters, development, investment acquisitions and disposals, and real estate finance. Edward has acted for a wide variety of clients in the real estate sector, including institutional investors, major high street retailers, and lenders operating within the industrial, office, retail and hospitality & leisure sectors. Recent notable work includes advising a  hospitality and hotel company on the refinancing of a hotel in West London, as well as advising the landlords of a portfolio of prime London real estate on property management and redevelopment. 

Sally Johnston, Senior associate in the Russell-Cooke Solicitors, corporate and commercial team.

Sally Johnston: corporate and commercial

Sally advises small to medium sized businesses on corporate and commercial law, with a particular focus on start-ups and scaling companies. A specialist in the start-ups sector, Sally joined Russell-Cooke in 2020, following three years at a boutique firm working exclusively with start-ups. With particular expertise in advising on fundraising and growth, her broader knowledge extends to employee incentives, internal restructures, share and asset sales and management buy-outs. Sally also advises on various aspects of commercial law including key commercial contracts and other third-party arrangements.  

Lucy Lawson, Senior associate in the Russell-Cooke Solicitors, personal injury and medical negligence team.

Lucy Lawson: personal injury and medical negligence

Lucy is a personal injury and medical negligence lawyer who specialises in serious and complex injury work, acting for those who have suffered life changing injury as a result of negligence. A signatory of the Serious Injury Guide, which is a best practice guide of conduct between the parties of complex injury, Lucy has over three decades’ experience in personal injury medical negligence law and has particular expertise in acting for clients with complex orthopaedic, brain or spinal injuries.

Sarah Reynolds, Senior associate in the Russell-Cooke Solicitors, property law and conveyancing team.

Sarah Reynolds: residential property 

An experienced residential property lawyer, Sarah specialises in the Prime London real estate market, dealing primarily with sale and purchase transactions and secured lending. She has built up a diverse client base ranging from high-net-worth individuals and investors, to domestic and overseas companies.
